Implementing Ministry-level Science and Technology Task in 2019, August 23, 2019 at Green Plaza Hotel – Da Nang City, Vietnam Engineering Consultant Association (VECAS) held a Seminar on Science and Technology Mission “Research and analysis of regulations on management of construction activities for individuals of ASEAN countries, with a focus on the regulation of Continuing Professional Development (CPD), the agency in charge of granting practice certificates. Proposing regulations in Vietnam “Attending the seminar were Mr. Bui Van Duong – Deputy Director of Construction Activity Management Department (Ministry of Construction), Leaders of the Association, the Standing Committee members, leaders of Member firms, engineers, architects and team of the task.

Task Science and Technology Level Code RD108 / 18 by the Vietnam Engineering Consultants Association (VECAS) to analyze the rules of ASEAN countries, focusing on Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines on Continuing Professional Development  (CPD) and the functions and duties of professional practice management agencies in general, construction activities in these countries in particular. Thereby, it will propose the most appropriate regulations on CPD and construction practice management model in Vietnam.

The task study team presented analytical reports on key legal documents of countries related to occupational management, engineer and professional management agencies; regulations and forms of continuous career development in Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore … .CPD is one of the mandatory criteria of the ASEAN Engineer Coordination Committee when engineers from ASEAN member countries want registration of ASEAN standard engineers and non-compliance with CPD will be canceled in the status of consideration for maintenance. CPD is also issued by ASEAN countries (except for Vietnam, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Cambodia) from detailed Act, Circular, regulation or program and is carried out regularly; is one of the criteria for consideration of upgrading and maintaining operational certificates.

The Seminar received many comments and surveys. Through the seminar, the research team will synthesize and analyze in the summary report of science and technology tasks expected to be accepted at the end of 2019.
