Seminar “BIM – Benefits and Challenges”:
On the occasion of the Conference of the Executive Committee and Member annual Conference in 2018 of the Vietnam Engineering Consultant Asscociation (VECAS), the seminar on the Building Information Model with the theme “BIM – Benefits and Challenges” has been organized by Vecas with supporting of the Steering Committee for Implementation of the Building Information Model and building operation management (BIM Steering Committee) in Hanoi on March 29 / 2018. The purpose of the seminar is to provide a forum for managers, experts and local and foreign consultants to share practical experiences related to the implementation of BIM.
Attending the seminar were delegates from Ministry of Construction, Steering Committee of BIM: Leaders of Construction Management Department, Planning Architecture Department, International Cooperation Department, Institute of Construction Economics …; Attendance of professional associations: Chairman of Association of Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association, Chairman of Vietnam Association for Information Processing, representatives of Vietnam Federation of Civil Engineering Associations… representatives of leaders of member units. , PMU, construction consultants, architects, engineers, construction experts inside and outside the Association, domestic and international.
After the opening remarks of the Vecas leaders , Mr. Hoang Quang Nhu, Director General of Construction activity Management Department gave his comments, in which the role of the consultants was particularly important. For projects how to implement, provide the most effective solution applying the building information model works. The Ministry of Construction also expects that the workshop will receive many recommendations and recommendations on promoting the effective application of BIM in line with the Government’s direction.
Speakers from the BIM Steering Committee of the Ministry of Construction and the BIM Expert from UK Goverment; Experts from DP Architects (Singapore), VNCC, ARUP Vietnam, TEDI, Architect Nguyen Phuoc Thien seminar highlighted the benefits of applying BIM, improving quality, saving resources, saving costs, enhancing competitiveness, integrating industry data into Big Data for construction activities in general, technical consulting in particular. However, many challenges were also addressed by the workshop when applying BIM: the challenge of skilled human resources; change of system, design process, approval documents; Initial investment costs….
