On 22nd November 2017, Seminar “ Claim Management in Construction Sector” held by Vietnam Engineering Consultant Association – VECAS in cooperation with YKVN (Singapore) and HKA Global (Singapore) at Movenpick Hanoi hotel got attention from organizations and individuals relating to contract management and claim management in construction sector. There were about 90 delegates participating into the seminar, who are representatives of International Cooperation Department and Construction Activities Management Agency – Ministry of Construction, Vietnam International Arbitration centre; experts of WorldBank, ADB, and Public Procurement Agency Ministry of Planning and Investment; as well Client, Business Groups , Construction Consultants, domestic and international construction contractors, layers and Arbitrators …. In addition, leaders of VECAS members also attended the seminar.
After opening speech of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Duyen – VECAS Chairwoman, speakers of HKA Global and YKVN (Msc. Peter Atkinson, lawyers Mr. Bejnamin Highfield, Mr. Lee Baker and Mr. Do Khoi Nguyen), who have many experiences in construction contractual disputes at different coutries, presented approaches and mothods for construction contract management, cost and plan management for project; determination for causes of claims as well claim resolution; fundamental principles of claims; Claim to Dispute, and Dispute Resolution.
Many comments and experiences were discussed and shared in the seminar, which showed that there are difficulties and discrepancies between legal regulations and actual contract management; matters in experiences, procedures, methods and approaches that parties participating into contract’s claims and dispute resolution not only in Vietnam but also other countries.
The seminar contributes usful and valuable experiences to delegates and organizor. After sucess of the seminar, Vietnam Engineering Consultant Association shall plan similar programme in 2018 in Hochiminh city in order to support organizations and ìndividuals relating to construction contract management in Vietnam.
