The delegation of the Vietnam Engineering Consultant Association led by the Association’s President Nguyen Thi Duyen attended the 2022 General Meeting and FIDIC’s Award Ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland from September 10-13, 2022. Attending the delegation were Vice President Pham Thi Bich (Chairman of the Board of Directors of IDCo), Vice President Pham Huu Son (General Director of TEDI), Vice President Hoang Don Dung (Chairman of SCQC Board of Directors), Vice President Tran Duc Toan (General Director of VNCC) and leaders of member units of the Association. The Association’s President attended and spoke at the DNS meeting, the FIDIC President’s Meeting held on September 10.
The President’s Meeting of Member National Associations, chaired by FIDIC President, Mr. Tony Barry, reviewed and commented on Fidic’s financial and operational reports for 2021 – 2022, operation and planning financial plan for the year 2022 – 2023. Writing in this year’s Annual Report, FIDIC president Tony Barry said: “FIDIC, our member associations, our industry, our firms, our clients and the contracting sector have all been challenged. It is a great credit to technology and to the investment in it by our industry, that many of the businesses in the industry have survived, and in many cases, thrived. They have adopted flexible work practices, enabled remote working, implemented collaborative technologies and continued to serve their clients effectively. Leadership and the people in our industry have shown themselves to be very resilient.”
Gala Diner and FIDIC Awards are always very happy and exciting events, held on the evening of September 12, 2022 at the President Hotel – Geneva, awarded by FIDIC President Tony Barry and CEO Nelson Ogunshakin OBE give prizes to the winning units. This year, the Cua Hoi Bridge project across the Lam River in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, designed by the Bridge and Tunnel engineering Consultant Joint Stock Company, was selected by FIDIC in the short list for the FIDIC PROJECT AWARD 2022 award.
General Meeting (GAM 2022) on the afternoon of September 13 approved many important contents: online Meeting minutes for 2021, operational and financial reports for 2021-2022, operational and financial plans 2022-2023, announcing 02 new members of the FIDIC Executive Board (USA and Italy), electing FIDIC President for the term 2023-2025, planning to hold the 2023 General Meeting in Singapore… Mrs. Catherine Karakatsanis (Canada), currently the FIDIC Vice President is the first woman to hold the position of FIDIC President after more than 100 years of establishment.
